I.P. Ratings

Garden lights are rated for ingress protection (I.P. ratings), the table below list the test requirements for outdoor garden lights for I.P ratings. All outdoor lights connected to mains electric must be tested for I. P. rating, where a transformer is used this must also have a separate I.P. rating, in most cases the transformer will have a higher I.P. rating than the garden lights. Solar lights should also be I.P. tested and carry an I.P. rating. The higher the I.P. rating the more water tight the garden light will be right up to underwater lighting.
